2142 Punkbuster Issue

Punkbuster Issue
ive just been on to have a go ( was empty ) but then someone joined - i got an error message about losing packets ( see screenshot) and then i was kicked i then got a warning from mcafee that punkbusters exe had a trojan in it

now ive never seen this before and i was on my clan's server this morning with no problems

Just passing in on so you can ask the server vendors why

Possibly a McAfee issue.

I have just been on there for about 25 mins and had none of the symptons that you have experienced. Using NOD32 AV did not pick anything up either.

Yes i dumped mcafee and went with virgin's pc suite - i was on there for about 2 mins then had to come off but no errors and no kicking after 20 seconds

Yippee! lol

There have been a few problems with people accessing servers since early april when even balance released an update to punkbuster.
This update added an extra service pnkbstrB.exe which had to be let through the firewall.
Sadly letting it through the firewalls didn't always fix the issue, which is why another update came out on the 17/4 which did fix the issue, at least for me.

I had the same prob and had to start pnkbstrA and pnkbstrB by going to run and typing services.msc. then look for them on the list and change then to Automatic as they both said Disabled

I've had this a couple of times, I just put it down to a laggy connection at the time of logging on to the server as it always lets me in the second time round. I always shut down all services that are running apart from sound video and obviously the game as my pc is showing its age - lol

PunkBuster Online Countermeasures

Choose your game and where it's located and it'll do the rest

it's worked for me on bf2 and bf2142 i was getting the packet loss error

i thought it was mcafee but it appears it was punkbuster so might just put it back on again

yep

i was getting the punkbuster lossing packets error message and then kicking me from the server

ill get the new update and see what happens from there

what do people think of punkpuster generally ?
